  • Being over 18 years old

  • Eye number has remained stable in the last year

  • Having a refractive error in the range of myopia (–1 to –10), hyperopia (+1 to +5), or astigmatism (±6)

  • Appropriate corneal structure and thickness

  • No other disease in the eye (keratoconus, advanced dry eye, etc.)

Before laser treatment, suitability is assessed with a detailed eye examination and topographic mapping.

How is Excimer Laser Surgery Performed?

Excimer laser treatment is a completely painless procedure that usually takes 5–10 minutes, is performed with anesthetic drops, and has two main application methods:

1. LASIK (Flap method):

A thin layer of the corneal surface is lifted, the laser is applied to the underlying layer, and the layer is then placed back in place. Recovery time is short, and vision clears quickly.

2. PRK / No-touch (Flapless method):

The epithelial layer on the corneal surface is removed, and the laser is applied directly. Recovery time is slightly longer, but it's more suitable for people with thin corneas.

The method to be applied is determined by the patient's eye structure.

The Healing Process

  • After LASIK, most patients can return to work the next day.

  • After PRK/No-touch, you can return to your daily life within 3–5 days.

  • The eye may feel stinging, watering, or be sensitive to light for a few days.

  • Protective drops are used for the first week and rubbing the eyes should be avoided.

  • The final vision quality usually settles within 1 month.
